"Back to life" again after quite a "hiatus"....

Here's a quote by Paul Hawken,  that continues to inspire my actions:

" Forget that this task of planet-saving is not possible in the time required.  Don't be put off by people who know what is not possible.  Do what needs to be done and check to see if it was impossible only after you are done"

Lavender Labyrinth created by a friend in far west Texas

SO HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL, AND MANY MORE TO COME, with sincere wishes our state of being & minds could return to some level of sanity very sooon! Right?

Waking up to spring-like weather here - with trepidations - an ice storm or a return to winter can certainly waylay our budding trees, plants, birds and birdlets as well as our food gardens that "cometh" very early already!

KUDOS and my sincere appreciation to my friends (locally) who continue to do more than anyone I know to keep us moving in the direction of safe and NON GMO food:
  • Adaptive Seeds:  www.adaptiveseeds.com  incredible online catalog and new website.  Sarah & Andrew work tirelessly with collaborators on Bringing Biodiversity Back!
  • The Mushroomery (near Lebanon) incredible efforts to bring beautiful organic specimens from the forests, and also to make available those they cultivate to the area for food, medicine and remediation of soil and water in our gardens. (see them on Facebook)
I will continue to support & volunteer for them, whenever needed and whenever possible.  These folks helped to keep my spirits up in the past few years by the sheer determination and level of their commitment to the natural, organic, super & truly ethical contributions to safe & tasty, good food production and to bring back/sustain diversity that will sustain us!

2015 mini garden inside hoophouse

Mine is a tiny backyard garden, and a miniscule bit in the front.  I am still hoping to find someone to help with the work that I can no longer do myself and to help complete the design of perennial food gardens that I can manage better myself,  the produce  to be shared with friends & neighbors. I cannot wait to begin to enjoy it all regardless, so, in a state of spring feverish-ness, I celebrate & enjoy consuming the carrots, onion, garlic & kale + herb plants still going along, hardly phased by the cold, but watered well, in back and front. I can only take credit for getting the seeds planted last year!

I also have a few plant boxes going in the hoophouse (small greenhouse) that are there to "pick and come again" & it makes me smile to see the little snow peas that are aspiring to grow up the string trellis and the baby and grown up spinach, & wintered-over chard - tasty salads & veg dishes keep my strength up & enhance the efforts/dream going for having any food gardens this year.
